Since a young age my mother has instilled in me the importance of helping others. She always said to me “portate bien por que es gratis” meaning it costs nothing to be kind. This saying I hold close to my heart and has been part of my teaching belief of empathizing and caring for all; building a community. As a teacher I am passionate to help all students grow both mentally and emotionally by building a classroom community. I strongly believe that as a teacher my role is not only to teach the multiple subject content but also help shape students to build on being the best version of themselves in society. In doing so, I would teach my students the importance of social-emotional learning, cultural inclusion, and deeper learning. These practices will support students to think critically about who they are and who they want to be in the world.
