The Superhero in ME!
Essential Question:
How can we, as first grade superheroes, use our powers to help ourselves and others? Content Learning Goals: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.1.3- Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.1.9- Compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in stories CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.1.7- Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.1.3- Write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events, include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide some sense of closure. CCSS.Math.Content.1.M.D.C.4 - Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another. CCSS.Math.Content.1.MD.A.1 - Order three objects by length; compare the lengths of two objects indirectly by using a third object. First Grade exhibited at the Children's Discovery Museum informing visitors of the importance of having strategies to help stay calm and relaxed. Strategies that were included in our calming kits were: Coloring sheets, glitter jars, a pillow, and breathing/ stretching techniques. First Graders were real superhero's!
